Each month, we host a group coaching session within our Facebook Group and post the notes here for your reference. You can check out the video here.
This month we are chatting about goal setting but not in the typical ‘new years resolution’ type way. This video goes in depth on planning out your year, prioritising your goals and looking at the steps you need to take to make them happen.
We also have put together a free 2021 planner for you to use for this! We talk you through it step by step in the video. Grab your planner here.
Setting your goals for the new year
This is such a great way to firstly, brainstorm all the things you think you might like to achieve or work towards throughout the new year. We have split your goals into 6 categories but feel free to add your own and don’t feel you need to include goals in all of these areas. The 6 categories include:
- Health
- Fitness
- Relationship
- Career
- Personal
- Financial
What steps do you need to take to achieve these?
Next, you need to look at the steps you need to take to make progress towards your goal. These are things that you can do that are completely within your control. These also need to be realistic and things that you know you can implement into your life relatively easily.
It can be worthwhile to brainstorm all of the steps you will need to take here, but remember to prioritise and start small. Make one small change first and once you have mastered that, you can add more steps as you go.
What are the barriers that you might face?
This is a really important part of planning your goals! Looking at the potential barriers that you might come up against will not only help you to plan around these, but can also highlight that achieving your goals may not be as hard as you think.
Doing this exercise can also highlight some other areas where you might like to do some work. For example, if your mindset is a barrier for you, maybe you need to set some goals to improve this.
Using this planner (or similar) can be a great tool for reflection throughout the year. It can help to keep you on track and remind you of the things that you set out to achieve at the start of the year.
But it can also be a great tool to show just how far you’ve come and highlight all the progress you have made.
